Coach Lauren's swimming career/adventure began with joining her neighborhood swim team at the age of 10. Though it was mostly just to hang out with friends, she quickly developed a love of the sport that just wouldn't quit (and still won't!). She went on to compete as a Texas High School 5A State and Sectional finalist before finishing her career at the University of Denver as sprint freestyle specialist and top three conference finisher. She has enjoyed many years of instructing swimmers of all ages and abilities, most recently fulfilling her passion for coaching as assistant coach for BSTC and age group coach for the Front Range Barracudas. Lauren loves challenging athletes to reach for and exceed their goals and finding ways to keep training fresh and fun. She could not be more excited to be returning this summer as head coach of the BSTC Sharks!
Coach Kendall began her swimming career at the age of 7 for the very team you are now swimming for, the BSTC Sharks! Her time with the Sharks spanned 9 years, after which she decided to join a year round club in Boulder, RACE, where she competed for the duration of her high school career. She swam for Broomfield High School as well, named on both the All-Conference and All-State teams all four years, as well as being part of the medley relay team that won a 4A State Championship and set a 4A State record with an All-American Consideration time. She now swims for Division II Colorado Mesa University where she trains sprint freestyle and breaststroke, and this past season placed 3rd at their conference championships. Currently studying Exercise Science at CMU, she will begin her senior year this fall. She is very enthusiastic to be assisting Coach Lauren this season, and to be back at the pool where her love for the sport began!
Coach Zach's swimming career started right here at BSTC, when he was just 7 years old. He swam for the Sharks until age 14 , when he decided to swim year-round for RACE in Boulder, as well as for the Broomfield High School Swim Team. Zach was a state qualifier all four years and team manager for the BHS Girls Swim Team for 3 of those, assisting the head coach with team and meet management. Upon graduation from Broomfield High School this spring, he will attend the University of Colorado in Boulder to study aerospace engineering.
Coach Kirsten's love for swimming started when she was just 7 years old and decided to join her first swim team at the local recreation center. As she is coming up on her third year as a Shark and her final year as a BHS Eagle, she dreams of continuing her swimming career through college. She is excited to be helping Coach Lauren in the water and sharing her love of swimming with others through teaching and coaching.
Coach AJ started swimming when he was six years old with the BSTC Sharks. He quickly began to love the sport and revolve his life around it. AJ competed with the Sharks for over ten seasons while also swimming with the Broomfield Eagles for the last four years. In 2016, AJ earned a spot as a state qualifier on the Medley Relay and will be representing his team again this season at the state level. Come fall, he will be attending the University of Wyoming and will be part of the ROTC program.
